Tour Program
+ Day 1 – Welcome to Helsinki
After arriving in Helsinki, you’ll enjoy a smooth private transfer to your centrally located hotel. Settle in and start soaking up the charm of Finland’s vibrant capital.
Take your pick from the city’s outstanding restaurants, eclectic bars and unique attractions. They’re all just a stone’s throw away for your first night in the Nordics. No need to tick off all the sights, as we’ll be taking you on a complete sightseeing tour tomorrow!
– Day 2 – Helsinki Sightseeing & Overnight Train to Lapland
Start your day with a relaxing breakfast at the hotel before checking out. Then leave your bags in the secure luggage room as we explore Finland’s energetic capital.
Our sightseeing tour of Helsinki is the perfect introduction to the city, taking in all the main sights plus a few hidden corners. Explore the city at your own pace while your audio guide shares engaging stories and historical insights.
After the tour, you’ll have some free time to see more of what Helsinki has to offer. Grab lunch at a local café, visit one of many excellent museums, or get some retail therapy in the city center. The choice is yours!
In the evening, it’s time to head to the railway station for our departure to Kemi. You’ll travel in complete comfort as the scenic Finnish landscapes unfold outside the window of your private cabin. What better way to make your way north?
– Day 3 – Lapland Husky Safari & Aurora Hunting in Kemi
Welcome to Kemi, your gateway to the arctic. Your stay starts seamlessly with a private transfer to your hotel. Then get ready for one of the most iconic Finland Lapland tours – the husky safari.
Get ready in the warm clothes provided, then we’ll whisk you away to an authentic Finnish husky kennel in the heart of Sea Lapland. That’s the beautiful southwest region of Finnish Lapland, if you haven’t heard of it before!
Following a brief introduction on husky dog sledding techniques, you’ll embark on a 5km self-drive trail through frozen landscapes, snowy swamps, and untouched nature. One guest mushes (drives) while the other rides, with the option to switch halfway.
Bringing children? They’ll ride safely in your sled.
After the ride, we’ll warm up with hot drinks and hear charming stories about life with Alaskan huskies. There’s plenty of time for photos and cuddles with these friendly, adorable sled dogs.
Be sure to save some space on your camera roll though. In the evening, we’ll venture away from the city lights to chase the spectacular Aurora Borealis. You’ll be taken to the best possible locations by expert guides, stopping at scenic spots with open skies for optimal viewing conditions.
If the weather cooperates, you’ll witness the breathtaking northern lights dancing across the starry Arctic sky. However, please note that the Aurora is a natural phenomenon and sightings can never be guaranteed in advance. Whatever the weather, it’s a wonderful experience complete with hot beverages and traditional sausage grilling on an open fire to keep you warm!
– Day 4 – Icebreaker Cruise & Arctic Floating Experience
Enjoy your breakfast as you prepare for today’s adventure. This time, it’s an unforgettable polar cruise experience aboard a legendary icebreaker ship. The powerful vessel plows through the thick ice of the Gulf of Bothnia, offering a truly unique Arctic adventure and one of Kemi’s top attractions.
There’s nothing quite like the thunderous feeling of steel breaking through frozen waters. You’ll also get a guided tour of the impressive ship, from the bridge to the engine rooms. Feeling brave? Take the rare opportunity to float in the icy sea wearing a special survival suit.
– Day 5 – Train to Rovaniemi: Arctic Landscapes & Santa’s City
Time for the next amazing chapter of your Lapland tour package. Fuel up with a delicious breakfast before a comfortable private transfer takes you straight to the railway station. You’ll board a train to Rovaniemi, the official hometown of Santa Claus himself.
Enjoy a scenic journey through the snowy landscapes of Finnish Lapland complete with breath-taking views. Once you arrive, a private transfer will take you directly to your hotel for check-in.
That leaves plenty of time to enjoy your first day in the capital of Lapland. Soak up the atmosphere in your choice of local restaurants or visit Arktikum, Rovaniemi’s dedicated Arctic museum and science center.
– Day 6 – Meet Santa & Cross the Arctic Circle
After a hearty breakfast, get ready for a magical day of discovery with a half-day Santa Claus Safari.
Lapland is world-renowned as the true home of Santa Claus. Now it’s your turn to experience its enchanting atmosphere. You’ll meet Santa and his cheerful elves while exploring the magical surroundings they call home. But it’s more than just Christmas charm on offer. Today is a celebration of Arctic nature, Lappish traditions, and winter adventure.
An exciting ride will take you to a traditional local house, where you can take part in a short reindeer sleigh ride and cross the legendary Arctic Circle. To mark your extraordinary journey, you’ll get a certificate commemorating your Arctic Circle crossing.
Time to unwind. You’ll depart for Saariselkä on a comfortable public bus, with scenic views of the Arctic wilderness along the way. Upon arrival in this charming Lapland village, check in to your accommodation and settle in for the next leg of your northern adventure.
– Day 7 – Sámi Spirit & Reindeer Encounters in Northern Lapland
After another fantastic breakfast at a hand-picked hotel, we’ll visit the cultural heart of Finland’s Sámi region. Siida offers a unique, immersive introduction to Sámi heritage and the rich natural diversity of Lapland.
You’ll start by discovering the region’s traditions, art, and environment through collaborative exhibitions by the Nature Centre of Metsähallitus and the National Museum of the Finnish Sámi. You’ll also have chance to enjoy the convenient on-site restaurant for lunch.
Next, you’ll be welcomed into the home of a local Sámi family in the remote wilderness. Experience the warmth of genuine Lappish hospitality as you learn about the unique history of the home and modern day-to-day life in this tranquil, off-the-grid environment.
That’s not all. Your hostess shares her life with a beautiful herd of reindeer, so you’ll have the chance to meet and feed the friendly animals. That’s topped off with a first-hand look at the traditional craft of making Sámi fur boots, though this final experience may be subject to change.
– Day 8 – Kirkenes King Crab Safari & Arctic Dining Experience
After a tasty breakfast, you’ll hop on a swift shuttle bus to Kirkenes in Norway. Arriving at around 11am, you can leave your luggage at your hotel before the final stop on your Lapland tour package.
You’ll be staying at either the Scandic or Thon Hotel, which both offer excellent comfort with convenient central locations. Standard check in is at 3pm, with early check-in available depending on availability.
In the afternoon, your unforgettable Kirkenes King Crab Safari begins. You’ll be picked up from your hotel and taken to the awe-inspiring frozen fjords surrounding Kirkenes. Here, you’ll take part in a thrilling king crab fishing experience:
- Saw the hole – Try your hand at sawing through the thick ice to prepare the crab-catching spot.
- Catch the crab – Watch in amazement as the giant king crab is pulled from the icy waters.
- Prepare the meat – Learn the secrets of preparing this delicacy in a hands-on culinary demo.
After the excitement, we’ll head to a cozy farmhouse by the fjord, where a freshly prepared king crab meal awaits. It’s a true Arctic delicacy. Enjoy generous portions of sweet, tender crab meat served in a warm and welcoming setting. This is Northern Norway at its most delicious and unforgettable!
+ Day 9 – Departure Day: Free Time in Kirkenes & Airport Transfer
Feast on another mouth-watering breakfast at your hotel. Then enjoy some more time relaxing, exploring, or shopping in Kirkenes before your transport to the airport.
