Enjoy the very best of what Lapland has to offer with the short break, three day Lapland tour of the Rovaniemi region. You will enjoy a Wintertime Safari on the first afternoon of the tour, meeting and driving Husky Teams, before an evening at leiasure. The second day is dedicated to our wonderful Santa Claus Safari, including a visit to a reindeer farm and ceremonial crossing of the Arctic Circle.
Spend an afternoon at the Santa Claus Village before a night in a glass igloo resort where you will be accommodated in a glass igloo. You may even see the Northern Lights from your bed.
You will arrive in Rovaniemi in the heart of Finnish Lapland for a prompt transfer to your hotel. Your accommodation on this first night will be in one of the best centrally located hotels of Rovaniemi. These hotels offer comfortably appointed rooms as well as other appealing features including a modern hotel gym and relaxing saunas as well as restaurant and bar.
Day two commences with a hearty breakfast in your hotel, before you depart for our wonderful Santa Claus Safari. This full day Lapland tour is our most popular winter safari, incorporating a blend of nature, culture, and Christmas spirit.
Visit a local house, learn about traditional Lappish culture and the art and science of reindeer husbandry. Enjoy a short reindeer ride and a special Lappish ceremonial crossing of the Arctic Circle.
In the afternoon, transfer by car to the famous Santa Claus Village; a magical wonderland where you can send postcards from the North Pole Post Office, enjoy a delicious lunch, visit Santa’s workshop, and even meet Father Christmas himself. You will also receive a special Diploma for Crossing the Arctic Circle.
In the evening you will be transferred to a glass igloo resort. Here you will be accommodated in a glass igloo, for a once in a lifetime experience in complete comfort.
The resort of glass igloos is situated outside of Rovaniemi, far enough from the city lights that a glimpse of the Northern Lights from your bed in your glass igloo is optimised (though, of course, there is no guarantee of just when Mother Nature will perform!).
The glass igloos can accommodate two persons (an extra bed may be added on demand for each igloo). There are also family glass igloos to accommodate four to five persons. Private and comfortable, they provide all-sky vision, are warmly insulated, and feature thermal glass roofs with heated floors for a mild 20 degree temperature inside. Room amenities include private WC. Traditional Finnish sauna is also available for use in the main building. Guests can also switch on an “Aurora Alarm” to alert you if the Northern Lights appear, and you can marvel at them from the comfort of your cosy warm bed.
After breakfasting in your igloo or the hotel, embark on a Wintertime Safari with Husky Teams. You will be driven by car a short distance from town to a husky ranch, where these friendly working dogs will provide an enthusiastic welcome. After instruction relating to the control of dog sleds, you will ride in pairs through the snowy terrain, taking turns to drive your dog team. Upon your return to the ranch, enjoy refreshment with hot berry juce and chat with the head dog musher about these remarkable huskies.
After the safari meet for your return transfer to the airport or to the Rovaniemi city centre as you prefer.
